Upstage Unveil

We partnered with UPCO and invited creatives from Otley and surrounding areas to collaborate with us and perform an evening of ‘unfinished work’ at our very first scratch night!

We had an array of eight wonderful acts ranging from Opera to short film, making up a fantastic evening of variety and talent.

Pictured right: Greg Bobinski (AKA Betty Halloween) with a wonderfully wacky ballad, Milana Sarukhanyan and Ben Finlay playing improvised music based on Ukranian folk songs, and Turnip Fish Theatre Company in a scene from upcoming show, ‘My Pretties’.

Funny Money

June 2023

Henry’s travelling home on the Underground to a beautiful birthday roast dinner with his wife, Jean, and their mates. Feeling the chill, he opens his briefcase to retrieve his hat and gloves, instead finding £735,000 in cash. After several whiskeys (and trips to the gents to count the money), Henry decides to book a one-way flight to Barcelona to start a new life with Jean, before ‘Mr Nasty’ can find his briefcase.

Chaos and hilarity ensue, so join us In Studio this June for a wife swap, a dead cat, an angry Dutchman, a loaded pistol and a very burned roast chicken. It’s not just funny… it’s Funny Money.

Directed by Ellie Davis and produced by Amelia White and Daisy Lyons, this riotous production showcases the talents of UEA and NUA students and alumni, and is proudly supported by Maddermarket Theatre.
